We are currently searching for a System Engineer.



The System Engineer (SE) will provide three major functions within the GSI organization: 1) Define and specify GSI Enterprise standards and technical constraints into system specifications, 2) Synthesize design concepts across development organizations, 3) provide Quality Assurance (QA) with an understanding of the integrated system design concept underlying use cases. As such the SE must have requirements engineering skills, architecture engineering skills (familiarity with an architecture standard preferred), and experience synthesizing design concepts across multiple development organizations.



Responsibilities:

- Capture and control GSI Enterprise design driving requirements into a System Requirements Specification (SRS).

- Capture and control design solution description in a System Interaction Document (SID).

- Capture and configuration manage architecture concepts in architecture tool.

- Facilitate integrated design reviews with principle architect.

- Participate in design concept alternative identification and viability assessments.

- Integrate and de-conflict design concepts.

- Analyze user needs secification and trace integrated solutions to relevant user requirements and Enterprise drivers.

- Identify & track closure of open design concept issues.

- Manage technical risks.

- Obtain approval of SRS, SID and architecture products.

- Conduct interviews with Business Analysts and development organizations.

- Initiate early-on Quality Assurance QA (test) involvement.

- Quickly gain a strong and thorough understanding of GSI's product offerings/functionality and competitive landscape.

- Stay abreast of internal technology direction and latest industry standards.



Requirements:

- Minimum 7 years experience in Information Technology and the SDLC.

- Minimum 5 yrs requirements engineering experience preferably at a system level.

- Highly proactive self starter with minimum 5 years experience driving integration meetings between multiple stakeholders or development organizations.

- Minimum 5 years identifying and tracking closure of technical issues spanning multiple organizations.

- Minimum 3 yrs architecture engineering experience using UML.

- Minimum 3 years involvement in design reviews.

- Strong writing, analytical, critical thinking and quantitative problem-solving skills.

- Handle multiple projects, assigning priority as needed within a deadline-driven environment.

- Strong work ethic and a dedication to teamwork.

- Demonstrate strong judgment and professional demeanor to work collaboratively.

- Excellent computer skills including power point, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis.

- Minimum 3 years managing technical risks.

- 4 year college accredited degree in computer science or related discipline.

- Experience in WEB technologies.



Desirable Skills:

- Experience in e-commerce applications and/or related areas such as ERP/Supply Chain/CRM systems.

- Experience in an architecture standard (i.e. Zachman, TEAF, FEA, DODAF).

- Creation of Concepts of Operations or system design descriptions.

- Familiarity with IT standards.

- Familiarity with SysML.
