Graphic Designer & Web Development Manager

The Graphic Design & Web Development Manager assists the Director of Marketing & Communications and marketing staff in developing a consistent brand identity for University City District through the skillful design of printed publications and electronic communications, advertisements, special events and initiatives, signage and other special projects. The Graphic Design and Web Development Manager will design & produce UCD collateral materials in support of the strategic goals of University City District. He/she will be responsible for maintaining, managing & advancing the content, design and usability of www.ucityphila.org and www.breakmyroutine.com sites from conception through go-live.



Responsibilities:



Publications

•Works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and design all UCD collateral materials from concept to completion (including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, postcards, invitation, and external communications).

•Prepares final files for printer and acts as liaison through production process.

•Obtains printing and production bids as necessary.



Advertising

•Manage all UCD print and electronic advertising schedules (weekly, monthly, and annually).

•Work with marketing staff and other departments to develop and execute creative.

•Design and launch html emails and advertisements.

•Create animated and static banner ads.



Electronic Communications



Website

•Update, maintain, create new graphics, and create new web projects and for all content (from concept to completion) on www.ucityphila.org and www.breakmyroutine.com (including collecting, editing, writing text, publishing, testing and reviewing site content).

•Act as liaison with Geocentric (UCD’s outside web management company) and other relevant consultants.

•Keep all online content error-free and consistent.

•Compile monthly web activity reports.

•Keep abreast of evolving issues and trends in Web technology and content requirements.

•Research development of online store/e-commerce concept.

•Respond to appropriate UCD web inquiries.



E-newsletters

•Develop and design electronic newsletters (bi-weekly and monthly) and utilize Constant Contact for delivery.

•Maintain and update list of email constituents.



Social Marketing

•Create and maintain external pages for UCD programs with various social marketing sites (Facebook, MySpace, etc.)

•Research and publish approved content on local blogs sites.



Events

•Help to execute various UCD events.



Other

•Update, organize, and maintain UCD’s photo library (digital and print).

•Develop and produce signage and environmental graphics.

•Help develop UCD-specific merchandise and promotional items.

•Manage UCD publication and advertising archive.

•Photograph UCD events and activities as needed.

•Serve as liaison with printers and other outside vendors such as photographers and sign makers.

•Other tasks as assigned.



Requirements:



•Three to five years experience as a graphic/web designer.

•Previous nonprofit experience preferred.

•Bachelor’s degree (B.F.A.) in relevant field (communication or graphic design, multi media, journalism or related field).

•Strong written and oral communications skills.

•Creative thinker and problem solver.

•Proven project management skills with strong attention to detail and follow through.

•Ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects with varied priorities simultaneously.

•Ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate across departments.

•In-depth knowledge of Macintosh platforms.

•Working knowledge of HTML/XHTML required. Some knowledge of CSS, ActionScript or JavaScript helpful. Knowledge of PHP a plus.

•Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat), Quark 7, Microsoft Office X, and Macromedia Studio 8.



Salary:

$40,000 - $50,000
