Administrative Assistant
Mastery Charter Schools is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as an administrative assistant to support our Principal and Assistant Principal at our Pickett Middle School. The administrative assistant will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of our organization including answering phones, sorting mail, filing, faxing, creating and maintaining databases and any general administrative duties as needed. The position reports to the Principal. The position is a full time position (M-F; 8AM-4PM).
About Us
Mastery Charter Schools (MCS) was created to prepare underserved youth for success in post-secondary education and the knowledge-based economy. Mastery’s first school was founded in September 2001 by a coalition of business and civic leaders. Our mission is to ensure that all students learn the academic and personal skills they need to succeed in higher education, compete in the global economy, and pursue their dreams. Student achievement is the reason we exist. Since its inception, MCS has consistently demonstrated strong student performance compared to our peers. We strive to eliminate the performance gap between low-income minority students and other students.
In September 2005, Mastery opened a second school Mastery Charter School-Thomas Campus in South Philadelphia. The school currently serves 350 students in grades 7-9. The following year, Mastery Charter School-Shoemaker Campus opened in West Philadelphia enrolling students in grades 7 & 8. Over the next four years, these schools will grow to serve 600 students in grades 7-12. Currently, the Mastery is working with the School District of Philadelphia to convert a fourth campus located in the northeast section of Philadelphia. This school is scheduled to open in the fall 2007 serving 350 students in grades 7 & 8. The long-term goal of MCS is to influence the larger education system by operating multiple small urban middle/high schools that demonstrate how students can excel to meet the highest standards of high school education in America.
Key Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:
•Answering general inquiries, directing and screening phone calls
•Managing of office supplies
•Overseeing mailing and shipping delivery systems
•Helping to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures
•Creating and maintaining student databases
•Placing orders for departments
•Helping in other areas of the organization as needed
•General administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
•Three to five years administrative assistant experience is preferred
Ability to relate to a diverse population of people a must
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Proven experience multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing work
•Ability to handle requests and inquires and respond within a timely manner
•Performs duties with a high degree of professionalism
