Independence Media, the non-profit organization in Philadelphia that brings you WYBE channel 35, has open intern positions for those looking for something exciting to do this fall. We believe in the power of independent television and new technologies to connect communities, promote diversity, and encourage understanding – and we're developing exciting new projects that take these ideas even further! Our membership department has open intern positions where you'll learn about and assist with the following: community relations and outreach, non-profit membership programs, fundraising, effective communication strategies, and presentation development and implementation. This is an unpaid position but can count for college credit.



Great Opportunity For Those Interested In:

- Internet research, creative thinking & brainstorming, and project planning



Responsibilities Include:

- Assist in creating and implementing a community outreach and membership plan

- Various weekly research projects that require you to think creatively and bring fresh, new suggestions to the table

- Administrative duties include answering member questions via email and phone, record keeping of member communication, light data entry, and other miscellaneous duties



Applicants Must:

- Have excellent written and oral communication skills

- Be interested in independent television and learning about the non-profit world

- Be well organized and detail oriented

- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft office (PowerPoint and excel are important)

- Feel comfortable talking to people from diverse backgrounds, attending events and speaking with the general public about organizational projects and services

- Be available 15-20 hours per week, 2-3 days a week

- Be able to start soon after Labor Day and stay through at least mid-December (those interested in longer internships or volunteer opportunities are highly encouraged to apply)
